I thought all Arabic People believed in "Mahdi"

Who knew?
Quote from BBC article about why President Ahmadinejad was forced by the Ayatollah Khamenei to dismiss Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie as First VP:

"In one version, Mr Mashaie is disliked by conservatives for his relative "moderation" in saying Iran was friends with the Israeli people. Another analysis has it that conservatives are worried about Mr Mashaie's links with the controversial sect the Hojjatieh, members of which believe in the imminent return of the so-called hidden imam, the Mahdi, in an apocalyptic scenario."9:12 AM 7/30/2009

Article is entitled "Ahmadinejad riles powerful allies' and was written by Jon Leyne of BBC News middle east news. I am putting this here because I thought all Arabic people believed in the return of the Mahdi someday. I am curious about this topic and would like to know more about it. I think the supernatural man that Arabic people call The Mahdi is JESUS whom Christians [those who follow and adhere to the teachings and words of JESUS designated The Christ which seems to mean the anointed one] not of the Paulian gospel-method of teaching call The Messiah. It seems to me that JESUS is as divisive in the Arabic bloc of nations as HE is in the so-called Christian nations. Those who believe there is an afterlife called heaven and another one called hell, and that there will be a final apocalypse [we Christians call that Armageddon] when the GOD returns to the earth to collect HIS followers and sends the wicked to hell. It is written about in the book of Revelation in the King James [authorized] Holy Bible.

There's another article to depress you in the Asia Pacific news of the BBC today also about the 400 MILLION Chinese killed by abortion in the past 30 years! Horror of horrors those numbers--apocalyptic for certain. It is entitled 'Has China's One-child policy worked?" It is the first in a series written by Michael Bristow of the BBC.

Update minutes later with this proclamation from the Taliban as reported by CNN:
And in another article in the CNN World Edition news

today is this quote written by the Taliban in their rule

book:
"...killing of innocent people and damage to their

property should be minimized."It also says "all

mujahideen must do their best to avoid civilian deaths

and injuries and damage to civilian property." And it

says that mujahideen "should refrain" from disfiguring of

people, such as the severing of ears, nose and lips.

"Mujahideen must be well behaved, and treat the people

properly, in order to get closer to the hearts of

civilian Muslims," the code said.[end quote]
